This is a great bowl for lots of things besides just mixing. And it's Pyrex, which means it's strong. To help the buyer select which bowl to buy, it would be helpful if the product's size could be described not just by the bowl's capacity (i.e. 1-qt), but also by its diameter (i.e. 6-in or 15.5-cm).
I would recommend this to a friend!

I use this size for cooking approximately one pound of usually acorn or butternut squash. I use either 4 oz. of tomato juice or 2-4 oz. of water with the squash. I cover the mixing bowl with parchment paper with foil on top. The squash always comes out perfect. The bowl cleans easily.

We use them not just for mixing, but also for serving salads, soups, stews, etc. They're not crystal, but they are handsome, sturdy and serviceable.
When we bought a set of Pyrex bowls of different sizes, and all with covers, the set included this 1-qt. It was the first inkling we had that we could replace some of our missing bowls _and_ get covers for all of them.
Quick service, good prices, and careful packing, too, from World Kitchen.

I have a pyrex mixing bowls in every size available - my go-to bowls for recipe and meal preparation. I love that I can see the entire contents of the bowl (no unmixed ingredients at the bottom). They wash up so well and so easily. These pyrex bowls also work very nicely for serving and storing food.

The first order of pyrex bowls was manufacture flawed. The service dept. just said they'd ship new ones and they didn't even want the old ones back. They arrived in pristene condition and perform perfectly.

I have owned Pyrex glass mixing bowls for 40 years -- this is my third set (I still have one bowl from the first set and two from the second set). I love the set because it has 4 different sizes, so I always have the size I need. I now have a ceramic tile floor in my kitchen and unfortunatel, I dropped a bowl and that floor is unforgiving -- the bowl broke, so I needed to order my third set - A friend suggested getting metal ones because they don't break. But, they move around on the counter - there is no "weight" to them. The glass ones stay put, don't absorb odors, go into the dishwasher -- perfect!

I ordered three bowls, 1 qt, 1 1/2 qt and 2 1/2 quart. The 1 quart bowl has an obvious flaw (defect that I'd expect second quality, not first). I was supposed to get three red lids. I received 2 red and a blue. I also realized I could have bought 8 pieces ( same three with lids plus one more with lids) during the Thanksgiving sales and they would have matched. Too much trouble to return.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I got one of the 1 quart bowls in my set of 3, but I always needed more of the 1 quart. I was having to use larger bowls for small things! I don't know what took me so long to order a few more. Cooking & prep is much more efficient now!!
