After a few unpleasant accidents with mandolins, I almost gave up on them. I had resorted to using a knife or dragging out the food processor with the slicing blade. I was intrigued when I saw this product and decided to order it. The concept is great. It would be very difficult to cut yourself using it. The big attached bowl catches everything you slice. It takes practice to figure out the best way to hold the slicer and the food being sliced but once that's accomplished, the slicing goes quickly as with all mandolins. The primary con so far is that the blade is not very sharp resulting in a rough appearing cut on hard vegetables. It only does a few simple cuts, but the ones most of us use most often. The reasonable price made it worth a try.

I had a bad injury from a traditional mandoline a few years back. This is the first one I have purchased since then. Wow, I am so glad I waited for this one. Much safer and works like a dream.

I gave this mandoline to my sister and her husband (a professional chef) as an anniversary gift. I knew they would get a great deal of use out of it, as I had received one as a gift and I love it! Easy to assemble, use and clean. Just pop it in the dishwasher. It makes short work of large slicing jobs. I have used it to slice cucumbers for pickles and strawberries for jam. Would have taken forever by hand.

I am thrilled with this mandoline. I have had others and hated them. Not easy to use and have gotten rid of them in short order. I love this one. It has closed blades and slices beautifully and I love the attractive bowl that catches the slices. The price was actually cheap all things considered and I would give this as a gift. Thanks.
