This product does not open, allowing for bad sanitation, and does not close tightly and allows air into it.

I was very disappointed in the quality. I thought the white top would somehow come off for proper cleaning, but alas, unless I'm missing something, this is one unit. The closure is very loose and allows air into the container, and does not keep things dry and fresh. I'm using them in the basement for golf tees, shear pins, etc. It's all they're good for.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I used these canisters in the kitchen to replace my old, ceramic canisters. They're very versitile, since they can sit upright or at an angle. The airtight seal keeps everything fresh. I have a few and use them for anything loose, from cookies, to crackers, to tea bags. They're light and strong. I've knocked one off te counter onto the tile floor and it didn't break. I use other shapes for coffee, cereal, pasta, ........ everything!
AND THEY'RE MADE IN THE USA!
I would recommend this to a friend!
