I love this pan because its perfect size for quick breads, meatloaf and other things I enjoy fixing. I even bought three of them so I could have a couple of things going at the same time. :-)

I was looking for the true 9X5 Pyrex loaf pan with straight sides. This is what is pictured. All I could find in stores in the newer "Easy Grab" which has handles and slants in towards the bottom. I was happy to find the old style on this website, and this is what I ordered, but was sent the newer style. Not worth sending back, but with shipping, I paid twice what I could have bought in for in a local store.

I am so tired of metal loaf pans and when I saw this on sale I purchased two. They are wonderful for making quick breads and tonight I'm making meatloaf in one.

The size of this loaf pan is ideal for making pound cake, or meat loaf or baked vegetables. It is compact, fits in smaller European appliances. It cooks just the right amount for a couple. No transferring of left overs yet to another dish!

These are the best bread pan to use for home bread baking! They have straight sides, small handles and are large enough for a good loaf of bread for sandwich and toast slices. They are a true classic to have in any kitchen that is serious about baking their own bread products and just like the ones I have had and loved for many years!!!

I use my loaf pans on a regular basis for cooking, baking, reheating and storage. The clear glass makes it easy to see what's inside it. Having the ability to get matching plastic covers so that the food can go from oven to fridge for storage is an added benefit.

Best loaf pans ever!!!

I will only use glass to bake my bread in. These pans are the perfect size and shape. The larger glass loaf pans are too big and don't produce a nicely shaped loaf. Note: This pan is 8.5 x 4.5, which is perfect (not 9 x 5). The Easy Grip glass pans are an odd shape and are too angled. This bread pan produces loaves with straight sides and a lovely shape. The best!!!

I bought this as a birthday gift for my son's girlfriend. It hasn't yet been used, but it is great inexpensive, basic kitchen piece. I know she'll get years of use from it. Our family LOVES banana and pumpkin bread so I expect to get many of those in the future!

I can't tell you how excited I was to find these loaf pans! They have high, straight sides and small handles, unlike the newer glass loaf pans which angle out more and have bigger handles.
This is the kind my mother uses for baking bread. They're just the right shape for bread, fit nicely in the oven, and the best part is that you can see if the bottoms of the loaves are browned. Love, love, love these!

This is a nice standard size loaf pan that works great. Easy to check the cooking process through the clear glass and I like that sharp utensils can be used on it, unlike non-glass loaf pans. Being glass the corners and edges are very rounded and smooth- some non-glass ones I've seen had cleaner, more defined edges, but I have not used that type so I cannot say as whether that is good or bad, it doesn't really bother me... Handles make it super easy to get in and out of the oven. I have found it easier to remove bread from this than a light-colored metal one I have (the metal one had rounded edges too).

The actual inside measurement for this pan is 8 1/2 x 4 3/4 and has sides that slightly angle inward at the bottom. It will not hold the capacity that you would expect of a 9x5 loaf pan. That being said, it bakes evenly and the baked product is nicely browned. It may be able to hold a bread dough but will overflow if used for a quick bread that is more fluid. The liquid capacity is exactly the same as a 8 1/2 x 41/2 metal pan that I use. I believe this is the only 9x5 loaf pan that Pyrex makes, I plan to use it for any recipe calling for an 8 x 4 pan. Would have rated 5 if pan size was accurate.

This is not a 9" x 5" pan
PostedFebruary 22, 2012

For over 20 years I've used my pyrex 8.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 loaf pan. I have a number of new bread recipes that call for 9" x 5" pans. This pan is EXACTLY the same as my 8.5 x 4.5. Those numbers are imprinted on the bottom of the older pan. The new ones I bought (yes, I ordered 2) only has "1.5 Qt" imprinted on the bottom. So my rating is about the fact that I was mislead by this product being described incorrectly. Otherwise I love the pyrex products I have. If you want a 9" x 5" loaf pan, do not order this.

I do not like the new style handles (they take up too much room in my cupboards). The old style handles on these are great. I was a bit disappointed that the pans were a tiny bit smaller than my old one that I have had for years. These are a great size for making bread (especially yeast bread).

Unlike other glass "loaf" pans, this one has a steep taper. The shape of the bread loaf is what you would expect, not squat and flat. Pyrex needs to start marketing these again out in the retail stores.
