Although I haven't used the measuring cup yet it is exactly what I wanted. I am glad that I finally have a large measuring cup that has a (tight fitting) lid. I was a little afraid that it might arrive broken but it did not.

The glass measure itself is fine and a hard-to-find very large size. But be prepared for the red cover to warp (either in the dishwasher or the microwave--I'm not sure where it happened but it happened immediately!) and from then on, the cover won't close even remotely correctly!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a great measuring cup to have. It is nice and big so can handle many different tasks as a mixing bowl or bowl to cook in. The shape of the handle makes it easy to stack with other bowls. It is great that it can go in the microwave.

I like the versatile feature of this product, the ability to use it in the oven and food storage in the freezer. I like that it has a good fitting lid. I bought 3 and am very happy with it. Actually,
I have already bought a Pampered Chef 2 qts batter bowl, but the bottom is not flat like this Pyrex measuring cup, which I like a whole lot better. So I put aside the Pampered Chef to save and give it for a present to somebody instead. Also, this Pyrex is much more affordable than Pampered Chef.

I cook with whole foods, so I'm always soaking whole grains or beans. I've been leery of plastic containers for years now, and glass is my first choice. This Pyrex measuring cup with a lid is exactly what I need for soaking, without any question of something leeching from a plastic container into my food. Plus I can put leftovers into the fridge with a lid - love it.

The 8-cup measuring cup is a useful size which is very difficult to find. The glass is sturdy and durable, as you would expect from a Pyrex product, and the 8-cup size opens up more uses.
Use it to "watch bread rise"--you will easily be able to see when the dough doubles in size.
Use it to brew iced tea: microwave 1/2 gallon (8 cups) of water, add tea bags and brew, add honey or sugar while tea is hot, then pour over a glass of ice. The lid makes it easy to store the tea in the refrigerator after cooling.
Use it to measure those large amounts needed for some recipes, such as 8 cups of bread cubes for bread pudding, or 6 cups of sliced apples for pie.
It is a useful measuring cup, of excellent quality, at a reasonable price.

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my sister. She loved it! It's perfect for making and storing the nectar we make for the hummingbirds we feed. We feed them year round here and it's handy to have some made when they go through it so quickly!

I use this for everything from fudge to vegetable stew. It is great for mixing and for cooking in the microwave. I use it to store leftovers and then put in microwave to reheat. It is a wonderful hostess gift or just a random useful item!

For years I have depended on the eight cup measure for mixing, measuring and microwave peanut brittle making. Now it comes with two very welcome changes. A lid to accommodate storage and numbers printed on the inside for easier measuring. These are GREAT! Always have been and continue to be.

Over the course of the past 3 years I have purchased over 20 of these. I have 2 for my kitchen and the rest have been gifts. I prefer this design- I do not like the new design that is more angled. The lid is microwaveable and also top-rack dishwasher safe. The bowl is great for everything. You can make tea in the microwave in it- or mix up cakes in it. We use this item every day- I am thinking about getting another one because sometimes I have both of them in the fridge holding left-overs and need another one to be available. Everyone I have given this to as a gift has raved over it- and then later told me that they don't know how they ever lived without it! A must have!
